Absolutely above and beyond any expectation! The sushi is so good you will believe that you have died and gone to sushi heaven, extremely friendly staff, clean facility from top to bottom.
Super basic sushi. Everything we ate was bland and incredibly dry. A $16 rainbow roll should have some sort of flavor. Really disappointed for the amount we spent and the flavor/size of rolls. Teriyaki chicken bowl had zero flavor, no sauce. Just a dry collection of bland chicken, broccoli and white rice, no idea how you serve that and expect a positive result. Very rare that me and my wife look at each other and say “this is not good”. We did tonight
I must have called them 10 times and when someone finally picked up, I explained my problem to them and they hung up on me.
The sushi rolls and Nagri are very small. I was disappointed
Stopped in for lunch and the sushi was DELICIOUS! COVID-19 friendly.
Awesome food, awesome service. Good wine 2!
sushi, super delicious. Visited Sat afternoon. The staff was sociable and attentive. The place has a great atmosphere. Food and feeling reminds me of Kansas City.
Fantastic food. Unfortunately their owner/manager doesn’t understand that if you post a price of a beverage within the restaurant and do NOT disclose a $20 bottling fee, when you have this beverage on tap, your customers will be upset. You cannot have a dual fee schedule. Showing a menu “in house” vs 20$ upcharge compared to the sticky note on the literal bottle shown which we purchased is a bait and switch, particularly due to the fact there is no discourse about a 20$ bottling fee ANYWHERE. I feel sorry for your waiters and waitresses. Your food is too good to undercut patrons on the beverages . I will not be returning to your establishment because of this. What a shame .
Some of the most basic sushi I have ever had, at higher end prices. $35 for sashimi dinner which are really bite size pieces of sashimi. The servers were really nice though. Definitely won’t be coming back. much better places with better servings and quality.
Some of the very best sushi in Atlanta. Taka-San and his staff are always friendly and the menu interesting. Great wine and beer selection too.
Great Sushi and amazing drink selection.
Taka is one of our favorites. The food is always wonderful & the staff are great.
Food is always great!
Tuna nigiri & shrimp tempura roll were fabulous! Very good selection of cold sake too.
We have done most of the sushi restaurants in the ATL and dozens in NYC, this is our favorite, tied with Soba Toto in Manhattan.
This was my first visit at a Fleming’s Steakhouse and I was not disappointed. This is my friend’s favorite steakhouse and now I know why. We started with the chilled seafood tower to share and a bowl of lobster bisque for me. Both were very good. We both had the dry-aged ribeye prepared medium. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and full of flavor.
Ok, my spouse LOVES sushi, and loves this place, too. So I give it an excellent rating. I, on the other hand, am not a huge sushi fan, so I selected something else on their menu and that was a mistake. I broke a fast rule, " always order what the restaurant specializes in" ...aka, do not wander away from the main menu. I will develop my taste for sushi, and I will do it here!
My favorite sushi restaurant by far. Thus my favorite restaurant......
Chef/Owner Taka Moriuchi picked the tagline "Sushi and Passion" after being inspired by the line in Barry Manilow's Copacabana song about "music and passion." I am not a big Barry Manilow fan, but I am a big fan of Taka. Taka is one of Atlanta's premier sushi restaurants. Sushi lovers, and I count myself among them, can be transformed into a heavenly state by the flavors of top-tier sushi. And Taka is a purveyor of such fine food; every piece is delectable.
They do charge gratuity for to go order. It’s ridiculous.
The fried oyster bento box is amazing!!!!! Photo here is half-eaten plate. Everything amazing taste and preparation!!!!
The sushi quality was good, but nothing outstanding. The sushi menu could use some higher quality rolls.

Mr. Moriuchi himself accompanies his expert chefs behind the sushi bar. He greets customers and expresses his appreciation for their patronage. Service is prompt and attentive. The food at Taka is expensive, not an unexpected characteristic of a restaurant serving the highest quality sushi.
Prompt service, good food
Update: I have forwarded my complaint to the owner. There is the reply: "We try to be best always." I quote, Only the single sentence. nothing else. At this point, I feel the owner does not quite care about customers' experience. Maybe it is the very reason the service level is always worse than other competitor such as tomo throughout the whole two-year period I've been dining in Taka and reached the intolerable breaking point recently. But let me be fair. The food is always good, among the best ones can find in Atlanta, the only problem is the rapidly declining waiting service. I guess we will switch to other restaurants for our daily meals. After all one is not willing to pay while being treated disrespectfully. How sad.....we used to dine 3-5 times per week there. Let me list some alternatives for people who want to switch away from Taka: Umi in buckhead: much more expensive but better in terms of sushi. It also offers great wagyu beef, which I don't think any other restaurants does offer in Atlanta. Tomo in buckhead: less impressive in terms of tastes of sushi. It also offers much westernized dishes and great atmosphere. A much better choice for Americans. Sushi Mito in Norcross: newly opened Izakaya indeed. Don't order sushi there, only good for Izakaya dishes. It is much better than Shoya. These are the only three great Japanese restaurants in my mind alternatively.
East sushi in atlanta
My problem was with the food so here are my pros and cons. Pro: the staff was so nice, welcoming and accommodating with our little ones. Con: my friend and I ordered a teriyaki chicken bento box for lunch and when we received it we noticed the chicken looked too soft. As we started to eat it it was very rubbery and seemed undercooked. The second piece of chicken I cut into was red and looked extremely undercooked. When we brought it to the servers attention she was very apologetic and asked what else we wanted but the immediately after cane back to explain that the cooks told her it couldn’t have been undercooked because they first microwave it then put it on a pan to cook. My friend and I looked frightened at the fact. We thought, why would he tell her to say that!? That’s not a good response and no cook in their right mind should ever say that 🤦🏼♀️, no wonder it was undercooked they microwave it, which is terrifying. Then the cook himself came out to explain how he knows it wasn’t undercooked because he first cooks it then microwaves it because it’s chicken and want to be sure it’s fully cooked. This didn’t make us feel much better. He said he was happy to replace it this time though and just wanted to let us know we had nothing to worry about. Basically the bento box wasn’t a good choice and if you go I suggest anything other than that because I don’t trust half microwaved chicken to ensure it’s properly prepared. Who does that?!?
Great chef-owned local sushi spot, always very clean, hospitable staff, delicious sushi as well as other cuisine.
I put 2 stars only because of the cleanliness and the service. The sushi alone is so basic. Actually the most basic sushi I've ever had. My friend ate one piece of her sushi and couldn't eat the rest. The nigiri looked old and not fresh. Will not be back.
One of best Sushi ever!
The food was really good and they were all very attentive to our needs. I really enjoyed being there and we will be back.
Sushi was amazing. This place deserves a higher rating.
Good food, good service
Consistently excellent.
Great tuna tartar!
The Hamachi Yuzu appetizer (Yellow Tail) is phenomenal with Ponzu Sauce
Great people and outstanding sushi!
Love !! Love !! Taka the owner is the absolute best!! 😊 Chancey
Delicious. We tried about 8 different sushi rolls and the family style fried rice. Very very good food! Friendly service also.
Sadly slipping.
Great sushi and interesting new Japanese beers
Nice, quiet, cozy spot. Sushi was affordable and tasty. Good dumplings. If I lived closer I would be a regular.
Ordering the omakase was the best decision! The 6 course chef's choice tasting menu a big win for my spouse's birthday! I do recommend folks confirm your budget ahead of time as I did...this is high quality food and service.
Delicious and fresh sushi. Personalized service from owner and chef. Great service from servers and owners.
delicious sushi food and lunch bento box
Great Food. Excellent Service.
This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants. I have been eating here for over 15 years. I found this quaint restaurant on Pharr Rd and followed them to Roswell Rd. I spend every birthday at Taka and usually eat here at least once a month.
Taka continues to impress with arguably the best sushi in Atlanta. His omikase is always exceptional and the service is friendly and prompt. For a nice night out it's almost impossible to beat.
Amazingly delicious and special every single time.
This has been my go-to sushi destination for the better part of a decade, going back to it's original inception on Pharr Road. The decor and pace of the restaurant has changed a bit in that time but the menu, service, and quality of food remains as good as ever. Affordable and creative omakase selections, fresh nigiri / sashimi selections from domestic sources as well as weekly rotating fish sourced from Japan's Tsukiji Market. It is no surprise why a majority of the diners here are certifiable regulars.
